After visiting Portland’s farms, kitchens and food spaces, Jared Leaf arrives at his father’s home. He sits down with his father and grandmother around their family table.
The people sharing this meal belong to his own history. The film’s questions about what is handed down, what is missed and what remains possible now have a place at the table.
The journey ends with a meal described simply as made with love. Food has carried Jared through the city and back toward parts of his Black cultural inheritance that were always his. Home becomes something he can sit down inside.
